COmparison of work.

I really dont think my work is in any real league with other animations. If i were going to compare it to any work, it would mostly fit in with The chronicles of Narnia, although the visual effects are well beyond what i have, they use live action mixed with animation.

To make this fit in better, i think the model of moom is too characterized, and i would need the character to look more realistic. I think that this is the main reason it doesnt go well in the scene. If i designed and model a character that looked more realistic, he would look more realistic in the scene. Or even if i could add more realistic textures that might have helped.

Compositing,

I didnt get roud to putting it together until today.

I had to go through each scene and render sort moom, and make sure he was the right size and in the right place.
I imported all the shot scenes into After effects, and then put moon in on top. I wanted to try to blend moom in more with his surroundings as he still looks quite bright. And maybe next time, i could add a Shadow in to go on the other hanging corpses to make hime look like he is well within the scene.

I used plug ins for the splash effects. When Moom dives in i used a slash effect, although this could have been made smaller, i wanted to empasize him diving in. I also used an effect when Jack is bailing out water, A lens splash hits the screen.

I needed to find a splash sound effect and i had to go on Freesound.Org to try to get one. I managed to find one, but my sound effects wernt working in aftereffects, but they were rendering out so i had to trial and a geuss when to put it in. As Well with the background music i had to add it in again, and as i took out two shots at the beginning, i had to put titles i n for 8 seconds before it could start.

Scheduling.

The process of animation. to help me to make my schedule, i looked at some Pixar animation dvds where they show how they went through the process of making films. Such as Monsters Inc.

At first you get the Idea, Then you have the designing of characters and environments and then all your stroyboards and Scripts.
As i already had a scene laid out for me i just needed to to the storyboard and scripting stages.

Then there are modeling of characters, and Animation tests, I unfortunately didn't do any animation tests, even though i have used moom before.

Then the animation gets thrown to the lighting department who then light the scene, and then it gets given to the render farm, and composited together adding all the footage, then sound and effects, then the titles get added last. This is basically the fundamentals that I added to my schedule.

Schedule

After creating a schedule for the project which should have happend through out, i have added a red bar underneath as to what exactly happened to the project.

My major issue was that i had a lot of other work to do to begin with in my other projects, so although i got off to a good start with this project, i just found that this project got shoved along to the end.

I found that i wasn't up dateing the blog when ever i could and not very often.

Choosing my clip took longer then i expected, but i managed to do my storyboard in ahlf the time i expected.
I didnt get round to animating for ages, and so it looks ropey and thats what i want to improve, if i did this scene again.
However as i want to go into modelling, i would probably like to change from animating to Adding models into a scene.

Some things i managed to keep up to on the schedule, and they took the amount of time i had expected, but i need to still organise my time better to get the results i need.

Hanging_02

I have done a test, here, the rope moves around where the match move hasn't worked that well. The darkness of moom doesn't fit in well with its surroundings either. I will need to animate moom so he stays in position.

Ive then tried to animate moom so he doesnt move around as much. Ive also changed his colour to try make him blend in better with his environment. With this shot im going to have a look at the lighting again as it should come more round the front of him. The animation i will try to make more enthusiastic when he waves his arms, and i need to move his fingers.

Pirates hang 1

Here is a first test of moom. Ive animated him, but some of the animation is still a bit ropey. The rope seems to move position, the lighting isnt too bad but i thinks that mooms matt colour finish doesnt blend him in very well with the surroundings.
